Appreciated the opportunity to speak at the “Four Betters for Innovation and Agrifood System Transformation” high-level roundtable at the 44th Session of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Conference in Rome, Italy. As the former Chair of Nepal’s Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources, agrifood system transformation is an issue close to my heart.
The roundtable provided an opportunity to share Nepal’s successes – including enhanced public-private partnership in agriculture and the proliferation of snow-fed irrigation ponds – as well as Nepal’s unique challenges – including outward migration-induced wildlife infestation and the feminization of agriculture. I look forward to continuing such meaningful exchanges, which are key to creating inclusive and sustainable agri-food systems.
